About the Advanced Instruments 3300

Description:

The Advanced Instruments Model 3300 Micro-Osmometer is a benchtop, single-sample osmometer that measures solution osmolality by the freezing-point-depression method. After you aspirate just 20 µL into the Ease-Eject® sampler, the vertical probe automatically super-cools, initiates freezing and captures the plateau temperature, displaying the result on a two-line digital screen in about one minute. Built-in solid-state refrigeration (no external bath or compressor) keeps the 10.5 × 13.5-inch footprint quiet and vibration-free, while multi-language firmware, automatic calibration, self-diagnostics and statistics make day-to-day operation nearly hands-off. Standard RS-232 and parallel printer ports—and an optional barcode scanner—let labs feed data directly to an LIS or study database without middleware.

Economic Advantage:

The 3300’s value proposition is speed and sample thrift: a 60-second cycle turns instruments around up to four times faster than multi-sample bath osmometers, and the 20 µL draw conserves precious sera, formulation lots or pediatric samples. Solid-state cooling eliminates chillers, glycol changes and most preventive maintenance, while the single-sample format avoids the evaporative-loss caps and plungers that drive consumable costs in carousel systems. Add the small footprint and < 60 W power draw, and the Model 3300 delivers one of the lowest total costs per test in its class.
