About the Waters 2487

Description:

Waters’ 2487 set the benchmark for quantitative UV detection by sampling two wavelengths simultaneously through a shared TaperSlit™ flow cell, allowing ratio-chromatography for baseline drift cancellation. Covering 190–700 nm with a fixed 5 nm bandwidth, the optics deliver ±1 nm accuracy and ±0.10 nm repeatability—parameters automatically verified by the built-in deuterium/mercury calibration routine. Single-λ noise is <3.5 × 10⁻⁶ AU (254 nm, 1 s TC), while dual-λ operation remains below 2.5 × 10⁻⁵ AU, ensuring sub-ppm detection of aromatic drugs. Linearity is maintained within 5 % up to 2.5 AU, aided by programmable gain (0.0001–4 AUFS). Four filter time constants, spectral scanning to 700 nm min⁻¹, and analog outputs make the detector a flexible drop-in for legacy 600-series pumps or modern Empower™ software.

Economic Advantage:

The two-channel design halves analysis time for dual-wavelength methods and eliminates a second detector, while its low drift (<1 × 10⁻⁴ AU h⁻¹ °C⁻¹) minimizes recalibration, saving QC labs hours of system suitability each month.
