The CELL-DYN Emerald is a compact three-part differential hematology system delivering 18 CBC parameters plus histograms in <60 s per sample. Electrical impedance sizing counts WBC, RBC and platelets, while cyanide-free hemoglobinometry determines Hgb. Two reagents and an onboard cleaner mount directly under the sample probe, simplifying inventory. A color touchscreen with soft keyboard stores 1,500 patient results locally and exports 60,000 via USB or LIS-ready TCP/IP. The open-vial sampler accepts 25–200 µL EDTA tubes, and weekly bleach maintenance takes two minutes. At just 9.8 × 13.8 × 13.8 in and 20 lb, the Emerald fits physician-office counter-tops and runs on a single 115 V outlet.
