About the Dionex GP50 Chromatography
Description:
The GP50 drives binary, ternary or quaternary gradients with <0.2 % composition error using two stepper-driven pistons and a 17-bit pressure servo. Four low-dead-volume proportioning valves mix eluents upstream so the 900 µL static mixer receives the exact ratio each stroke. Flow ranges 0.001–9.99 mL min⁻¹ in 0.001 mL steps and holds ± 1 % accuracy up to 5 000 psi, enough for 2.1 mm UHPLC columns. Built-in pulse dampers keep ripples under 1 psi at 1 mL min⁻¹, and an optical bubble detector aborts the run before baseline drifts.
Economic Advantage:
Because the same head supports analytical and semi-prep flows, labs use one pump for method-development and scale-up, sidestepping the $15 k extra expenditure on a second LC frame.
