About the Reichert AT-555 (NCT)
Description:
The AT-555 is “table-free”: patients stay seated while the instrument auto-aligns to the corneal apex, then fires a gentle air-pulse to measure intra-ocular pressure. A colour LCD guides alignment, and the tonometer’s internal camera plus voice prompts simplify positioning for technicians in training. Self-calibration on start-up and automated sleep-mode lengthen service intervals, and the on-board thermal printer (or RS-232 output) produces a labelled ticket seconds after the puff. With the travel-lock disengaged the head glides on a single track, accommodating wheel-chair users without chin-rest hassles.
Economic Advantage:
Because it aligns and measures on its own, the AT-555 cuts operator training time by two-thirds and slashes false readings that lead to unnecessary re-tests. The built-in printer eliminates dedicated receipt printers and paper rolls cost cents.
