About the Eppendorf 5810R Refrigerated

Description:

The Eppendorf 5810 R blends high-capacity swing-bucket loading with micro-tube-class speeds in a footprint that still fits beneath standard shelves. A brush-less direct drive accelerates selected rotors to 14 000 rpm / 20 800 × g while a closed refrigeration loop holds set temperatures from 15.8 °F to 104 °F (–9 °C – 40 °C). Soft-touch lid closure, low 9-inch access height and menu-driven keypad make daily runs almost ergonomic, and the unit auto-recognises each rotor, limiting speed for safety and triggering imbalance shut-down if needed. Ten acceleration/brake ramps, 35 program memories and standby “Fast Cool” to 39 °F (4 °C) streamline repetitive protocols, all while the bowl stays under 59 dB(A) for a quieter lab. A broad rotor family lets one instrument pellet 30 micro-preps, spin 16 microplates or clarify 4 × 750 mL cell-culture bottles without changing platforms.

Economic Advantage:

Before the 5810 R, labs that needed both plate capacity and high-g pellets often kept a floor-standing refrigerated centrifuge plus a separate micro-centrifuge. By squeezing a 4-×-750 mL swing rotor and 20 k × g fixed-angle rotors into a 28-by-24-inch bench chassis, the 5810 R replaced two instruments, freeing floor space and cutting utility draw (≈1.3 kW vs ≥4 kW for many floor models). Integrated cooling means no ice buckets or cold-room transfers, shortening workflows, while the synchronised lid gasket/drive service interval and brushless motor reduce maintenance stops—yielding a lower cost per run over the instrument’s service life.
