About the Bio-Rad 680
Description:
The Model 680 uses eight vertical photodiodes plus a reference detector to read 96-well plates in as little as six seconds (single-λ). A motorised eight-position filter wheel (standard 415, 450, 490, 655 nm) covers 400–750 nm; single- or dual-wavelength kinetics, on-board curve-fit, a 20 W halogen lamp (3000 h) and optional incubator (25–45 °C) complete the package.
Economic Advantage:
It offered walk-up ELISA throughput and curve-fit printing without a PC when competitors still required external analysis software—shrinking both bench-space and software licence costs.
