About the Hach 2100N Laboratory

Description:

The Hach 2100N Laboratory Turbidimeter is designed for precise measurement of sample turbidity from 0.01 NTU up to 4,000 NTU, with automatic range selection and decimal-point placement for user convenience. It employs a stable tungsten-filament lamp and a 90° nephelometric detector to deliver reliable NTU readings, as well as NEP and EBC units via onboard conversions. Automatic signal averaging improves noise rejection, and the intuitive keypad permits selection of ratio-on/off or manual range modes. Results can be output via RS-232 to printers or LIMS, and the unit accepts standard 25 mm round sample cells (with adapters for smaller diameters). Built for laboratory bench use, its rugged construction and simple calibration with Formazin or StablCal® standards make it a staple in water quality, food & beverage, and chemical testing labs.

Economic Advantage:

When introduced, the 2100N stood out by combining an expansive 0–4,000 NTU dynamic range with automatic range-and-decimal control, eliminating the need for multiple instruments or manual dilutions for high-turbidity samples. Its trusted optical block—evolved over 40 years of design—delivered consistency across labs, reducing inter-lab variability and troubleshooting costs. The choice of a durable tungsten lamp minimized consumable replacement versus LED-only designs at the time, while RS-232 connectivity streamlined data integration, lowering per-sample labor and IT overhead. Together, these features lowered total cost of ownership and accelerated workflow throughput in high-volume testing environments.
