About the Harvard Apparatus 22 Dual Digital

Description:

The Harvard Apparatus 22 Digital Dual Syringe Infusion Pump features two independent microprocessor-controlled channels, each driven by a precision stepper motor and lead screw. A 3½-digit LED display and numeric keypad allow entry of syringe diameter (0.5 µL–140 mL) and flow rate in µL/hr, µL/min, mL/hr or mL/min. An optical encoder continuously monitors lead-screw rotation for accurate flow, while programmable run profiles support infusion and withdrawal modes. Front-panel LEDs indicate run/stop, remote status, and error conditions (e.g., end-of-travel). Remote control via RS-232 or TTL inputs enables integration into automated setups, and the anti-siphon bracket option prevents unintended fluid loss. Compact (5.5 × 11 × 8.75 in) and robust, it’s the go-to pump for neurophysiology, pharmacology, and microfluidics applications.

Economic Advantage:

As the world’s most popular syringe pump, the Dual-22’s claim to fame lies in combining dual independent channels with ±1 % accuracy and ±0.1 % reproducibility—features previously reserved for high-end single-channel units. By consolidating two pumps in one chassis, it halved bench space and equipment costs, while microprocessor control eliminated manual calibration, cutting setup times and training overhead. The broad syringe compatibility (0.5 µL–140 mL) and versatile remote interfaces reduced the need for multiple pump models, lowering inventory and maintenance expenses. Its reliability and standardized command set further streamlined integration into complex rigs, delivering a lower total cost of ownership and faster experimental throughput.
