The second-generation Midmark / Ritter M7 Speedclave updates the long-loved “workhorse” sterilizer with a stiffer 1.3 kW immersion heater, a slightly roomier steel shell (19 in deep) and front-panel tweaks that keep operation strictly mechanical—fill/vent lever, bimetal thermometer and 0-to-30 min timer—yet shave a full minute off warm-cycle turnaround. The 7.5-in-diameter chamber still accepts the familiar three-tray rack, while the door’s spring lock, low-water cut-out, dual over-temp thermostats and 34 psi relief valve guard against operator error. Because everything needed—reservoir, condensing coil and drain—is inside the 30-lb chassis, installation remains as simple as “set it down, add distilled water, plug into 115 V or 230 V.”

Gen 2’s hotter 1300 W element shortens a cold start to steam by ~15 %, bringing an unwrapped load to sterilization in nine minutes and in just six when already hot, so a solo practice can cycle 5–6 trays an hour without buying a pricier vacuum unit. The unit’s built-in reservoir and all-manual controls mean no consumables beyond cheap tray liners and almost nothing electronic to fail—translating into years of uptime and one of the lowest total-ownership costs per sterilized instrument on the market.
