About the Verathon Prime 0570-0346

Description:

The BladderScan Prime is Verathon’s latest handheld ultrasound unit for non-invasive bladder-volume assessment. A mechanical sector probe sweeps multiple planes and feeds them to the ImageSense™ AI engine; the algorithm constructs a 3-D data set that compensates for pubic-bone shadow and off-centre aiming, then displays real-time target arrows on the probe LCD so users know when they are on axis. Once the console’s 5-in-class touch screen is tapped, the Prime captures a full scan in under three seconds and automatically classifies it as male, female, or small-child mode. Measured volume appears in bold type alongside the live B-mode slice, while stored exams—with thumbnails—remain in the 8 GB flash for later USB export or print-out. A sealed lithium-ion battery clicks into the back of the 3.9 lb console, powering a full shift; swapping a fresh pack preserves every exam. Both console and probe are IP-rated (IPX0 and IPX4) for splash resistance, and the silicone-dome transducer tolerates hospital disinfectant wipes between patients. The compact 4.92 × 8.49 × 10.2 in footprint and 7.7-in ergonomic probe let nurses carry the system from the ward to the emergency bay without a dedicated cart.

Economic Advantage:

Prime’s measurement accuracy—±7.5 mL below 100 mL or ±7.5 % above it—reduces unnecessary “just-in-case” catheterizations, a leading source of hospital-acquired UTIs. Verathon bundles a cost-savings dashboard that tracks avoided caths and prints a dollar figure for infection-control audits, helping facilities document up to $400 per patient episode in averted treatment and isolation costs. Because the dual-path cassette design delivers auto back-prime and closed air management, tubing waste drops 45 % and a single Prime replaces the need for separate post-void residual and continuous bladder-drainage devices, trimming capital and disposables by thousands each year.
